Felissa Chan
Associate Concert Master (Pipa)
Chan is currently the associate concert master of Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble and graduated with a Master of Music (honours) degree in 2019. She was trained under Ms. Yuan Yue and Ms. Zhang Ying.
Chan was awarded “Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Exchange Scholarship” and “Wong Cho Lam Scholarship” during her undergraduate studies. She received a Professional Gold Award at the “Liaoyuan Cup” Pipa Competition in 2018. She was the second runner up in the “Youth Music Cup” (Hong Kong) International Youth Pipa Competition in 2015; She was the winner of The 2nd Chinese Musical Instruments Competition which organized by the National Philharmonic Society of Guangdong Province in 2015. In 2011, she was the second runner up in The 1st International Instrumental Music Festival; In 2008, she was the first runner up at the Asian Youth Folk Instrumental Invitational Tournament. She also won several prizes at the Hong Kong Music Festival.
Chan invited by Tai Kwun and held two concerts, “Traditional Tones” and “Contemporary Images” . Chan performed the Pipa Concerto Dress of Clouds, Face of Flowers with the HKAPA Academy Chinese Orchestra in 2018. In 2017, she performed a Chinese music concert with her friends in Finland which invited and organized by Musicus Society; The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra invited Chan to be a pipa performer in the concert in 2015. In 2014, She cooperated with the HKAPA Chinese Orchestra in soloing the erhu and pipa double concerto “Tianyuan”. The Hainan government invited Chan to perform in Hainan in 2011 and 2012, and it was widely disseminated by the Hainan media. In addition, Chan often plays in Hong Kong and overseas. She is the core member in Yue Pipa Ensemble.
