"The Inherited Echo of Ancient Music" Concert cum Demonstration Lecture with two post-concert talks presented by Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble completed successfully! HKGDE values education and embrace to promote local artist. To support original artworks and encourage local young creation, we have invited the Department of Composition of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to support in organizing this concert.
We have commissioned four students from the department of composition to compose four initiative songs with four ancient musical instruments (Bent-neck Pipa, Tang Sheng, Xun, and Konghou), which are "White Cliff of Nowhere", "Moonshine at the Crescent Lake", "The Immortal Memoirs", and "Reflection".
Except for the four new songs, our residential musicians performed some original pieces adapted from ancient tunes composed and arranged by our composers-in-residence, including "Three Variations of Yangguan", "Sorrow of a Changsha Woman", "Fugue in C Major", "When the Last Leaf Falls" and "Tsangyang Gyatso/Aikyam". The ancient musical element and traditional culture can inherit through contemporary artworks. We are honored to share an hour of new recreation of ancient music with the guests and audience; and we are delighted to lightened up their days with joy and vitality.
