Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble has been invited by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council to participate in an exchange program, touring two cities in Hainan Province: Haikou and Dongfang. This performance is an important event for promoting cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Hainan.
A Dialogue between Dunhuang and the Palace Museum: Across 2000 Years of Chinese Cultural Heritage -Nature‘s Concerto: “Music from Heaven, Earth & Man” Concert, aims to bring the Dunhuang murals and the artifacts of The Palace Museum to life through music, allowing them to transcend time and space and engage in a dialogue on stage. The concert's theme revolves around Chinese culture, weaving together 1,600 years of Dunhuang and 600 years of the Forbidden City to traverse 2,000 years of Chinese history. Through storytelling, the audience is guided to experience the murals and artifacts, feel the vastness of the universe, and listen to the intertwined fates that span millennia: emerging from sound, resonating from the heart, telling the relationship between "Heaven, Earth & Man" over a thousand years.
This tour not only showcases the unique charm of Dunhuang's ancient music but also allows the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of Chinese culture. The passionate performances and dedicated involvement of the ensemble members enable every attendee to profoundly feel the power of cultural exchange. The audience's enthusiastic response and continuous praise reflect their eagerness for more such cultural events in the future.
