The charity concert “Nature’s Concerto: “Music from Heaven, Earth & Man” ” is organized by Wu Zhi Qiao and co-organized by the Hong Kong Dunhuang Music Ensemble. It aims to raise funds for rural revitalization and youth development projects in two regions. The theme revolves around Chinese culture, narrating the millennia-old relationship between “Heaven, Earth & Man” through music and artifacts, weaving together the 1,600-year history of Dunhuang and the 600-year history of the Forbidden City to illustrate 2,000 years of Chinese heritage.

All pieces performed during the concert are original compositions by the ensemble’s two resident composers, inspired by the murals and Buddhist sculptures in the Dunhuang caves, as well as the artifacts, architecture, and stories of the Forbidden City. Additionally, some pieces are based on ancient pipa scores from the Tang Dynasty and are performed using various ancient instruments. This approach aims to create a “new transmission of ancient music, with ancient scores infused into sound,” hoping to connect different times and spaces through musical notes, while revitalizing and preserving local cultural heritage.
